Kirk Gibbs has closed the gap on championship leader Matt Moss over the weekend at round 8 of the Rockstar MX nationals with a solid win to bridge the gap between himself and Moss to just 33 points with a 3-1-2-2 finish in Moree.

"I got two awesome starts today and two average ones, I have been working on my sprint speeds and my starts to help me with my first few laps. Even in the races when I didn't get the good starts I got up there quickly and made a good go of it and ran it up there with the front guys," Gibbs said. 

"I am not really thinking about the championship at the moment, coming into Moree I knew the championship was not over but I also knew it was a bit of a long shot but Matt did not have a great day today and let's hope he does not have a real great day at Coolum either and I can have a good one and hopefully take it down to the wire." he concluded.

The championship heads to Coolum this weekend for the final round where it will come down to the wire between Gibbs and Moss.

Josh Cachia is also hoping for some good results in the final round to boost him into the top 5 in his rookie year in the Pro Lites, Cachia finished 5th Overall in Moree, and is hoping to get on the podium in the final round to help his chances of finishing in the top 5 for the Championship
