Longest Non-stop PWC Race in the world
Wednesday, 4 January 2012
Jetpilot's Luke Day from Australia will be pairing up with USA Pro rider Dave Hardenburger to tackle the longest non-stop jet ski race in the world on a heavily modified stand up Jetski.
The event is known as the Mark Hahn Memorial 300 race held in honour of Mark Hahn who was a passionate supporter and racer within the PWC Endurance format.
The race will be a 300 mile non-stop endurance race held on the waters of the Iconic Lake Havasu Arizona USA on the 25 th February 2012.
Luke and Dave are racing for the USA KMG race team .The two riders will be racing a highly modified GP Class stand up ski which will be a combination of the successful Hydrospace stand up hull format with an engine from a Seadoo runabout style craft.
Their stand up ski will be capable of speeds similar to a normal stock runabout style craft and will require the two elite athletes to be on top of their game to control the 65 mph plus machine on the icy and rough waters of Lake Havasu at that time of the year.
Luke is a Dual Junior World Champion in the sport and Dave is a 5 times past winner of the event providing an exceptional combination of youth and experience.
The use of such a highly modified craft is a risky move for such a long race however the two riders are focused on finishing the 300 mile at the pointy end and trying to prove the pundits wrong.
