Moto: Adam Monea MX Nationals contender

Friday, 13 April 2012

Victorian motocross ace Adam Monea is determined to continue improving on his MX Nationals opening round form; and further establish himself as a championship contender.

Monea made a huge impact in his return to national motocross competition in Conondale, Queensland, after a two season hiatus from the countries’ premier motorcycle series.

Competing for the revamped ‘Zero Seven Motorsports’ outfit, Monea startled his competition with great speed and endurance in Queensland, netting third, twelfth and second place results respectively in the three-race format; earning a solid fifth placing overall in the ultra competitive MX2 class. A poor start and small crash in race two almost certainly cost the 24 year old from Koo Wee Rup a podium position on the day.

“My goal coming into the series was really to just be super consistent throughout the opening rounds and try to establish some solid points. Being inside the top 6 or 7 in every race is going to be the key in the early stages. As the series progresses I aim to continue improving and win some races, to give myself and the team a good shot at winning the championship.”

The Monster Energy MX Nationals Championship heads to Coonabarabran, NSW this weekend. Round Two of the series is a two-day event, with Veteran Classes taking part on Saturday and the pro classes racing Sunday.
