Adam Monea and the all-new 07 Motorsports team remain positive about a strong series ahead, despite facing some difficulties in Coonabarabran on the weekend for round two of the Australian Motocross Championships.

Monea, the team’s current MX2 championship hopeful,  entered the round fifth in the championship points, however crashed heavily in the Sunday morning warm up after running off the track.

“I ran off the track on one of the fastest down hill sections of the track – there must have been a hole or something hidden there because the next thing I knew I was over the handlebars and on my head!”

Despite the heavy incident Monea soldiered on. The 23 year old netted two 9th place results in the opening ‘back to back’ races. The Coonabarabran circuit proving difficult to pass in the ultra competitive MX2 division.

Not satisfied,  Monea begun the final 30 minute race determined to score a  much needed podium position. It was not to be however, when a minor mistake saw him stall his RM-Z250 in the early stages.

Once again proving his strength and determination, he fought back through the field, to challenge New Zealander Scott Columb for sixth – when an electrical issue destroyed his chances of progressing further, just two laps from the end of the race. Monea was forced to limp home to salvage a frustrating 12th place.

“To work as hard as I did and only manage to finish 12th is frustrating for sure, but I’ll just focus on the positives from the weekend. My fitness is really good and we’re coming up to tracks I’m really comfortable on. I’m positive it’s only a matter of time before it all comes together and we win some races!” Monea said.

07 Motorsports kiwi rookie recruit Dion Picard also had a difficult weekend in only his second ever MX Nationals MXD class appearance. Despite a solid eighth overall in Conondale, the 16 year old suffered from poor starts all weekend, finishing 17th position overall out of the weekends 60 entries.

“I think I know what I need to work on, so this week I’ll go home and train hard. My starts were terrible this weekend.. I just need to be a bit more aggressive and my results will improve a lot.”

07 Motorsports MX1 (450cc) class contender Ross Beaton, remains out of action with a fractured leg. Beaton is expected to return later in the series.
