MX: Zero Seven motorsports remain positive despite challenging MX Nationals Round

Adam Monea, remained upbeat on Sunday, despite having a challenging day at the office in Murray Bridge, South Australia for the fifth round of the Australian Motocross Championship.

Monea, stunned his competition a week prior in Wanneroo (WA) by winning the final 30 minute race of the weekend by a significant margin; however this week it as not to be for the 23 year old, despite qualifying in fourth place - a couple of minor accidents and a mechanical DNF destroying his chance of another overall podium result.

“I had a couple of average starts in the back to back races today and just got caught up in a couple of small crashes. I rode as hard as I could, but you just can’t afford to get caught up like that.”

Despite starting each of the back to back races at the rear of the field, Monea managed to claw his way to 10th and 6th in each race respectively.

Again, recovering from an average start in the final moto for the day – Monea didn’t get the chance to go back up his Wanneroo race win, when a cracked piston took him out for the day whilst he was challenging current series leader Luke Styke for position.

“I felt like I was riding well and again my fitness was good. Nobody wants to have mechanical problems but it's the first real issue we’ve had all year and for a privateer team I think we’re doing great. I’m looking forward to the mid season break and we’ll come back swinging in Harvey Bay!” Monea said.

Monea retains seventh place in the championship standings, 91 behind Styke.

The Murray Bridge round saw the return of the MXD (Under 19’s) class, with kiwi Dion Picard, representing the Zero Seven team.

When a transponder issue in qualifying failed to log a lap for Picard, he was forced to sit out the first of the back-to-back motos. In race two however the 16-year-old north islander finished a reputable 5th place, his highlight of the day. He sits
