MX: Cachia dominates Moto 2
Monday, 6 May 2013
Carlton Dry Honda Racing's Josh Cachia has finished the third round of the MX Nationals at Wonthaggi Motocross track one point shy of a podium result despite storming to a dominating victory in the final 30-minute MX2 moto.
The 21 year old, who is carrying a niggling nerve injury, bounced back from a first lap crash in the opening MX2 race to lead the final moto from start to finish.
Taking the chequered flag over 10 seconds ahead of Luke Styke, Cachia said he was out to prove a point in today's second race.
"In the first race I didn't get the best start then I pushed it too hard into the corner and went down with a few others. It was a rookie mistake and unfortunately when I picked my bike up I didn't have a clutch adjuster so it was hard going, but I got back up to ninth," Cachia explained.
"I got a good start in the second moto and pretty much led from start to finish which really felt good. To stamp my authority on something like that lets me know that I can still do it, even when I am injured.
"I finished fourth for the day and missed the podium by a point, but I can't complain after going down in the first race. I got some good points today and as a result I have moved up to fifth in the championship standings," Cachia continued.
Carlton Dry Honda Racing's MX1 pilots Ford Dale and Daniel McCoy both had their work cut out for them at today’s event.
Dale qualified second and was fourth in the Superpole but ended the day seventh overall after finishing the two MX1 motos ninth and seventh.
"It was an up and down day today," Dale said. "I started off really well with second place in qualifying but a couple of crashes in the first moto made it a tough day.
"in the first race I didn't get the best start but worked my way to fifth then I crashed twice and ended up finishing ninth. In the second moto I got a bad start and made my way up to seventh.
"It's back to the drawing board this week, we have a little bit of work to do on the bike. We will do some more testing with suspension and see if we can improve it for Broadford," Dale continued.
Teammate Daniel McCoy went down in both races but ended the day eighth with two, top-ten race finishes.
"I got an awesome start in Race 1 and was circulating in the top four but going into a turn, I hit neutral and crashed. I got back up and finished eighth," McCoy said.
"In the second race I crashed on the start as the gate dropped. We always start with a brand new clutch and I usually do a practice start on the sighting lap but there was a machine working in front of the gates so I rolled out.
"I was waiting for the start and the bike started rolling forward, I tried to pull back so I didn't hit the gate but it took off and I looped out on the start. To come from dead last to 10th is a pretty good recovery," McCoy added.
The next event will see the Carlton Dry Honda Racing Team head to Victoria's Broadford Motorcycle Complex in a fortnights time.

FRMX: 21 Questions with Steve Mini
Friday, 3 May 2013
FRMX Mag recently caught up with JetPilot and Showtime FMX team rider Steve Mini to fire 21 questions at him.
1. Your most awkward moment in the last three-months
I can't really think of anything for me but last time Sauly stayed at my house my chick caught him wackin it
2. If you had to wear a fluro pink shirt or tight leather pants, what would you wear and why?
The shirt for sure, probably less chance of getting bashed than if I was wearing tight leather pants
3. You have a $10 win on the pokies, do you double up and gamble or take the cash?
Double up
4. The selfie... you guilty of posting them at all? What are your thoughts on them?
I've never done one, but my chick is a big fan of the selfie so I don't mind them too much.
5. Black plastics... can they work or for the OG Mulisha only?
They can definitely work if the bike looks a bit presentable with graphics, rather than just black plastic with no stickers but I don't think they ever look as good as a bike with a bit of colour.
6. Do you wear a watch, if so what is it? If no, why not?
Yeah, I've always worn watches. At the moment it's a TW Steel, a big chunky, brass thing I bought while in NZ this year while touring.
7. Boxers, briefs, weird boy-short things or commando and why?
Either Ethika undies or no undies.
8. Any bad tattoos we should know about? How'd it come about?
Oh yeah, I've already had a bad one lasered off my leg, which is the worst pain you could imagine. I also have flames on my back with my name on it. One of the worst tattoos ever, but back in the day flames were cool and so was putting your name on your back, so I went one step further and added them together... not so cool now.
9. What's your regular hair cut? What do you ask for when you sit in the chair?
I've been going to the same place for about 15 years, so I just sit down and they do the rest
10. Have their been any girls that have slept with your purely because you're a professional FMX rider? If so, provide some details.
CENSORED
11. If you had to, could you clean your air filter, change your oil and do a couple of tyres on your bike? How long would it take?
The oil and filter I could have done in about 20 minutes, but when it comes to tyres, I'd be there for hours.
12. Coupla bourbons or coupla beers?
Beer.
13. Tight jeans... can you rock em?
Yeah, I don't mind tight jeans at all. I use to hate them, but as you get older you grow out of the whole baggy pants look.
14. Most embarrassing photo that's ever been captured of you... give us the scoop.
Every time I fall asleep in the car or on the tour bus I always have my mouth wide open with a big double chin. Usually, by the time I wake up, my chick or Bilko have posted it on instagram. It's not really embarrassing but It's pretty funny.
15. If you could travel on tour and room with the same person at every stop.. who would you most like to room with and who would you least like to room with and why?
I always room with Bilko which can be good and bad. Good coz he's one of my best mates and we hang out and carry on. Bad because of the nights when I stay in and he decides to carry on twice as much as normal.

16. What other sports did you play as a kid or do now? Are you any good at them?
When I was a kid I was a swimmer, I was actually really fast and was right into it, speedos and everything. Now if I'm not on my dirtbike, I've been getting into downhill mountain biking.
17. Can you handle the heat in the kitchen? If so, what's your signature dish?
I'm lucky because I'm engaged to a chick who loves to cook and is really good at it, so I don't have to be good in the kitchen, but if I have to cook something I can usually figure it all out.
18. High waisted pants on girls... a turn on or off?
Worst invention ever.
19. Rock, metal, rap or dance?
Rap
20. Could you buy a titty mag from the newsagent or too embarrassed?
Yeah, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
21. Ever joined the mile high club or is it more of a myth than anything?
I haven't, but I know a few of the boys that have, I'll get there one day.
