It put him in hospital for months but brave Maryborough cystic fibrosis sufferer Coen Ashton's epic jet-ski ride along the Murray River to boost organ donation has won him the national Child of Courage medal at the national Pride of Australia awards.

Coen, 14, received his award from Packed to the Rafters star Rebecca Gibney, one of several high-profile Australians to attend the gala black-tie event in Sydney last night honouring everyday people who do extraordinary things.

During Coen's 2000km, seven-week jet-ski ride, more than 1000 people signed up to become organ donors.

He also won the inaugural Duracell People's Choice medal, which comes with a special plaque and $10,000.

Congratulations Coen your a massive inspiration!

Luke McNeill and Steve Mini on the podium

Wednesday, 23 November 2011

Steve MiniWhat a huge night it was at this year’s FMX Rev Heads event, it had everything and more, and the riders didn’t disappoint. The largest recorded crowd at FMX Rev Heads of 4500 flooded to Narrogin to watch the national strong riders compete on the now famous FMX course. Once the sun went down and the lights were on the action heated up to fever pitch. In a head to head format it came down to three riders. Metal Mulisha’s Robbie Adelberg, Showtime FMX Steve Mini and Rhys Hillier.

With the level of competition this year it was a four way battle and Hillier was out of the top three by a slightest of margins. Last year’s champion Steve Mini was back from his long 7 month break off the bike due to a shoulder injury he received from a crash on the Nitro Circus tour. But with the inclusion to the wild card entrant this year. Jet pilots Luke McNeil was given a life line and he made sure he made the most of it. He came out in the last round with huge flip tricks and a hunger for a podium finish with his result.

Taking out his now 3rd title of the FMX Rev Heads, Metal Mulisha’ss Robbie Adelberg had to fight all the way. He threw down a classic Adelberg run with his silky smooth style and huge extension which managed to hold off McNeil and take the win. Steve Sommerfield, Pete Anderson, Adam Grope and Daniel Ford rounded out the top 8 in the finals

Best trick also went to Robbie Adelberg with a massive superflip indy to heel clicker combo. Luke McNeil and Daniel Ford both failed their attempts to take Robbie down. McNeil sliding his bike out on the lander with a 360 and Daniel Fords two attempts at the body variable proved unsuccessful.
