L.A trip Day 7

Friday, 20 August 2010

The final day of my trip had arrived and we headed to Hollywood and our humble abode the W, we checked in and headed up to our rooms the hotel is pimped out and no expense has been spared. We headed out into the streets of hollywood to check it out and there is some very strange people getting around.

I wanted to check out High Voltage Tattoo shop which is the scene for the hit series L.A Ink, the shop looks great and is always packed but it was good to see some of the stuff that you don't see on the show

We headed back to the hotel and hit the pool bar on the roof and we felt mildly out of place with the amount of Beautiful women in the joint getting around in bikini's and high heels, the bar staff walked around in lo cut one piece swimsuits and could have easily been models. After a few drinks we decided it was our time to leave as we clearly were not fitting in and headed out to dinner at a sweet sushi joint around the corner.

We attempted to hit a few clubs after dinner but unless you had been lining up since 8pm you were not getting in, so we retreated to our old faithful The Roosevelt as we had kept our hotel key from last time and strolled on in to consume some beers around the pool.

The next day it was time to fly out but not before a visit to the hip Robinson Street to check out some new upcoming designers, there was some cool stuff in this street but a little out of my price range, so it was off to the Stinking Rose restaurant for the last super and to get that Garlic hit before the long flight home, the shot above summarises my trip to L.A a bit of a blur but a hell of a lot of fun, i can't wait till next time.

L.A trip Day 6

Day 6 of the trip and we headed out to do some shopping at the block of Orange, bought a few sick tees, hats and kicks, checked out the vans store that has it's own indoor skate park and bowl.

We headed to La Jolla sports to catch up with some friends, their operation is huge and they have some cool stuff in there offices including half court basketball, mini skate park, gym and a huge lunch area with TV's, we hung out with the guys and they took us to dinner and then took us to indoor go karting were the aussie's proceeded to kick the americans ass, we had 1st place in the top class and 2nd in the 2nd class.

We thought a night was going to be called but some of the wild bunch from the office wanted to kick on so we headed out to a dive bar and took over the dance floor with some great moves including the box dance.

L.A Trip Day 5

Tuesday, 17 August 2010

Day 5 and i headed off to Huntington to check out the US Open and the Agenda Tradeshow, Huntington is a great place it has lots of cool bars and restaurants and the ladies are easy on the eye.

So we checked into our Hotel which was adjoining the trade show and headed down to check out the show, there was plenty of street and skate brands there and plenty of cool stuff to see including the Krew booth who were serving beer and hence was the most popular booth, we checked out all the big names including Obey, Alpine Star, Fox, Metal Mulisha as well as emerging brands inking and true love false idols all in all it was a great show with plenty of cool threads to check out

We headed to the pool after walking around for some hours for a few afternoon beers before heading out for some quality Sushi were we ran into JP Rider Andy Buckworth who was dining Daniel Dhers and Mark Webb. After dinner we headed to a local bar called Sharky's were we consumed possibly the largest beer outside of Germany, the place was pumping and full of all sorts of colourful characters and ladies, we bailed on this though to go check out the Agenda party.

We arrived to what was quite a dead party, but i told the boys to have faith and before long the place was crammed full of industry people, athletes and copius amounts of ladies ready to see Sam Ronson spin the wheels of steel and she went off and well and truly had the party jumping, we carried on like schoolboys pushing each other into the best looking chicks we could find and then trying to woo them with our aussie accents.

The next morning we went to check out some surfing event that had 100k up for grabs for first place and it was like watching grass grow it was that boring, we hung around for 30 minutes and the best thing i saw was a paddle battle involving Jordy Smith and one of his competitors, so we headed off to check the BMX and this was much more exciting the course was sick and even though it was practice the guys were pushing it pretty hard.
