JP's Daniel Powers on Alliancewake.com

Tuesday, 1 December 2009

just checked out the alliancewake.com site and young US Jetpilot rider Daniel Powers has a little clip up there this is the text that came with it so check it out.

Last week I gave Daniel Powers a call to do some filming early one morning. Lucky for us (read: not lucky), a nice cold front was moving through at the same time. Daniel is a trooper though, and I convinced him to get out there in 50 degrees and shred.

The crazy kid didn't even wear a wetsuit and just dove right in. Jim Powers was on hand to drive the chase ski and keep Daniel amped to ride in the cold weather. This video doesn't even showcase half of the tricks Daniel has on lock these days. I can't wait to see this kid in the future shredding anything and everything.

Did you know that Daniel rode in the Carnival when he was only 13 years old? But enough of me talking about how sick Daniel is, just watch the video and see

2010 WWA Australian Pro-Am

Monday, 30 November 2009

AUSTRALIA, This is the one you have all been asking for… The WWA Australian Pro-Am has just hit second gear with confirmation that Malibu

Wakeboard boats and Red Bull energy drink are now onboard.

You better book your accommodation soon, because the WWAA PRO AM is just around the corner. Stoney Park is going to be run off it’s feet with most of Australia’s, and some of the world’s most talented wakeboarders when the Australian PRO AM takes to the water on the 29th of Jan, 2010.

The organisers of the WWAA Pro Am are jumping out of their boots with excitement after confirming a tow deal with 2009’s Industry nominated, most popular Wakeboard boat company – Malibu. The 1st ever WWA Australian PRO AM will be starting out on the right foot, by choosing Malibu to tow their January World Title qualifying event. Malibu will be bringing three brand new 2010 VLX Wakesetter’s and will tow every division from the un-weighted <9’s all the way up to the fully loaded PRO Men and Women. The new hull design of the 2010 Malibu VLX is set to raise some eyebrows with the early response to it’s re-designed wake shape gaining unanimous acclaim with all those that have already had the pleasure of riding behind it.

In addition to our brand new tow partner, we are also wrapped to announce that we will be working exclusively with Red Bull again in 2010. For almost a decade, Red Bull have been the dominant force in Energy Drink supply for the entire Action Sports industry, and it is our pleasure to have them on-board in 2010 to support the 1st ever WWA Australian Wakeboarding PRO AM. Other sponsors confirmed to be in for the PRO AM are, Jet Pilot, Yamaha Australia, Dragon, DeJa Vu & Fluidcore.

The official website is now online and we are expecting the entry nominations to flood in with big name such as former APTW champion Dean Smith, Aussie and US Pro Tour Champion Harley Clifford, Mens 1 World Champion Sam Thomson, and World Junior Champion Bradley Teunissen

all confirmed to be riding in the Australian PRO AM.

Record crowds for Stoney Park are expected for the January 29-31 weekend with Live bands, FMX demo’s and wakeboarding expo sites already set in stone for the event along with all the action expected to take place on the water. This is one event you don’t want to miss !

Chris O, BP, Brad and Cory Teunissen ventured up to Somerset Dam on Wednesday night as the forecast for Thursday was fine and no wind, the guys awoke on Thursday Morning to overcast conditions and a small amount of wind, they decided to still head out and after about 30 minutes the sun started breaking through and the water was butter.

All the guys were riding well with some big moves going down with 12 year old Cory busting out a sweet toe 7. check out some of the images that didn't make the cut, there is also a bunch of video footage to come from this session so keep your peepers peeled for that

The past week has been pretty full on with Chris O'Shea back in town we made the most of his time on the Goldy, Monday morning we tried to tow the guys on there wakeboards in the surf which was not really co operating, we did however get a few shots in the small slop that was on offer

After lunch we took out a 60 ft Grand Banks on the broadwater and tried  a bunch of different stuff like towing along a shallow bank as well as trying to wakeboard behind the thing. a big thanks to Bruce Neville for oganising the Grand Banks and also to Perko from BoardM for bringing his Malibu out, check out an upcoming issue of Boarder magazine for the full story. In the meantime check the images out

This was an event that had never been seen in Namibia. On Saturday 12 FMX athletes from the IFMXF tour entered the African continent and jumped Windhoek for the NIGHT of the JUMPs. The air was burning on the FMX park at Tony Rust Race Track.

Steve Mini had his best event in the IFMXF so far by winning the best trick comp as well as taking out the overall points by pulling off his first ever Tsunami flip as well as a bunch of flip combo tricks to edge our Brice Izzo and Brody Wilson.
